Parent Accountability Workshop a Great Success

Thanks to all parents and teachers who attended the Accountability Workshop on Tuesday night, Oct. 16^th. Our guest speaker , Joe Murphy, is the Supervisor of Instruction at the Livingston Parish School Board. He shared a lot of good information and websites for parents and students to use in preparing for the 4^th and 8^th grade LEAP, and the 3^rd, 5^th, 6^th, and 7^th grade iLEAP.

The theme of the night, “How I Can Help My Child Survive Testing” brought out 61 adults who were interested in helping their child to find academic success. Teachers Jennifer Gilmore (grade 4), and Lisa Rushing (Jr. High Science) took home door prizes, as well as parent, Annette Quinn. Mrs. Quinn’s son Kolton is in the 8^th grade.

Parents and Students,

The grades 3 – 8 standardized tests will be March 10 – 14. The following week, grades 1 & 2 will take the IOWA test.

PASS and Newton’s Classroom provides free on-line tutorials and practice tests to help prepare for the LEAP (grades 4 and 8) and the iLEAP (grades 3,5,6, and 7). Practice tests are available in English Language Arts (proofreading, reading, using informational resources); Math (calculator, non-calculator, writing anwers); Science and Social Studies.

Use the first-time screen name and password to log in:

First-time screen name: student

First-time password: tiger

After logging in, students must make up a screen name. It is important for the student to write down the screen name and the password the computer assigns. This screen name and password will be needed every time the student logs in.
